Wow, a lot has changed since I've last posted. It's crazy how my blog has remained the same..but I'm the one who has changed. I'm not just talking about style. I have entered a new life in New York at college. Yes, I am a college student. I'm poor constantly, but I am having the time of my life. I'm not sure if anyone really reads my blog anymore or has any interest in me after I have abandoned my readers for such a long time without any notice.. but I was thinking that I should start up my blog again. This new interface thing is crazy by the way.. I'm not too sure I can keep up with this new technology.

Anyways, this post will not contain any fancy pictures as I do not have anything new to show.. But with new places come new adventures, so hopefully I will be ready to show that to you guys again. Until then, have a great Wednesday.

All Out or Nothing

I didn't really notice how much my outfit resembled the outdoor scenery until looking at my photos. Black and white just like the snow and trees.

So anyways, yes I know that I don't have any full body shots or face pictures this time. It was absolutely freezing outside and I could barely stay out for 2 minutes without my jacket and without putting on the "I'M SO FLIPPIN COLD GET ME INSIDE" face. Alas, I did not post any of the pictures with my face. Because they are horrendous. And awkward.

By the way, HELLO BLOGOSPHERE. I have been away for much too long.. I will get back to your comments soon and thanks to whoever actually stuck around despite my terrible laziness and "worst blogger ever" badge. Yes, I award you with 700000 points.

I'll be back soon with some more exciting pictures(cannot guarantee the exciting part) and maybe more "out and about" posts after midterms. Speaking of midterms, perhaps I should hurry on and study and not blog or go on Tumblr?

Hello world! You may ask, where has this girl been up to recently(ahem the past 2 months per say)? Somehow, the days have whisked me away with college planning, scholarships, school, and work days. Sorry that I haven't been updating! Anyone miss me? No? Oh, ok then.
Anyways, I just wanted to update to say hi and inform you that in the next couple days, I will get off my ass and take some outfit pictures! It's actually been snowing like madness yesterday but hopefully my day to day outfits will not consist of a big puffy jacket, fur trapper hat, and layers upon layers that leave me to the size of a snowman.

New Year, New Clothes? Ha, I wish. I've been dying to hit up some thrift/vintage stores. Too bad they take over an hour by the train to get to. Plus all that salt from the snow are making my shoes wear down like tires on the racetrack.

Autumn Glory

Did anyone see Morning Glory yet? I had a "me" day today and I saw this film instead of following my friends to Due Date or all those crazy films. I think I'm the type of girl who just loves a smart comedy. I don't mean chick flick. Plus, I have a girl crush on Rachel McAdams. She possesses this natural beauty. I'm jealous.
I'm kinda in love with this mustard circle scarf and how it matches my backyard foliage. My favorite season is autumn, and can you tell why? When it comes down to it, I'm a sucker for beautiful scenery and landscapes.
I found this skirt at Forever21 the other day and you have no clue how incredibly excited I was. I saw an array of pleated chiffon skirts in past magazines while staring with my eyes like this--> O.O at the $500 price tags. Fashion comes with a price? Dammit. Well, here's the best of both worlds(pretty skirt plus more money in my pocket..wait nevermind, I spent that on Pinkberry today). By the way, has anyone tried that waffle chip thingy they stick in the yogurt there? HOLY SHIZZ it's like eating a waffle with maple syrup. Dessert+breakfast=happy Francesca. :)

Hello internet! Long time no see? I've been catching up on old Youtube videos(Kevjumba is my favorite, gotta love those old school dance intros. Anyone a fan?) errrr I mean, doing college applications! To be honest, I have been doing that, but I get distracted. Occasionally. You know. I'm already done with my essay so I just need to some tweeking and out they go! Dang, my entire lower education just for that college acceptance letter. Colleges should come recruiting us.
Anyways, these pics are from a film noir project I'm doing in my photo class. My friends and I went running around the North End today while drowling over Mike's Pastry's cannolis and downing a steaming hot cup of hot cocoa. Mm mm good. I don't understand how people wear tights in the winter. I absolutely can't handle it. Legit. It's SO cold, it's like not wearing any pants. I had to wear tights, then another layer of American Apparel thigh high socks. Now THOSE are warm..up until the temperatures drop to 40F. Then I'm like F this, I want pants. I can only be girly for so long.. Then it's about survival.

School has been driving me bonkers but today was the perfect Sunday. There was a birthday dinner consisting of salmon, birthday cake, and fried cheesecake(I know! They have that!). I've lost the amount of calories I consumed today.. For some reason I actually finished my entree today, weird right? I'm always having leftovers or feel like some overstuffed turkey.

I didn't notice that I was channeling Halloween colors until now. This is how my Sunday wardrobe goes: hmm lemme see what's in my closet.. oooo comfy sweater! ok. sounds good.. mm colorful scarf! alright. awesome. woo.

And did anyone notice my necklace of pure awesomeness? It's like jewels and danglys and vintage goodness all packed in one. When I saw it, I knew I had to buy it. The guy selling it said 12 bucks, my mom attempted to bargain with 8 bucks.. guy says 10 bucks, mom says no.. Then I'm like MOM! Cause she was walking away from it, saying no. And then I go back and pay 10 bucks for it. So now here is my awesomeness on my neck. Woooo. It makes me happy. Each side has different color stones, but I didn't get to photograph both sides. I'm so sad that the Sowa Open Market isn't going to be open for long. Outside there is local food and then there are vintage goodies like suitcases, furniture, jewelry, hats, all that jazz. I saw a wool wide rimmed hat that I wanted but my mom was like, "isn't that for men?", and I'm like, "yeah..so what?" But of course she didn't buy it because well, it was her money. Oh boy, I need a job.

Hello fellow readers...are you starting to see a trend? Well here it is..I've decided to utilize the items in my closet and make the most out of them without spending too much(this is basically a fancy way of saying, I'm broke so I need to have a shopping ban). As you can already tell, a recent post already features this lace top. But you know what? I'm not a high society girl. I don't have money(I couldn't even afford bubble tea today). I think the thing is that too many fashion bloggers today make it seem like the norm is to own designer pieces and to constantly have hauls and mini shopping excursions when the truth is, most of us can't relate to that, let alone afford that. I'm not saying that all bloggers do this, but we've all seen it before. Style isn't about how expensive or what label your clothes are by--it's who puts the outfit together.
So what I want to say is that as long as you love what you're doing, keep doing it. I can't afford Alexander Wang and TopShop is already a huge stretch, but as long as I love fashion and love what I wear, it doesn't really matter. Psht, I got my whole life to make money...then we'll be talking :)

It's official--school life is absolutely horrendous as opposed to my summer life. How can two different worlds collide? Oh right, they don't.
Senior year is finally come. Did everyone else feel like their last year came so quickly? No one really believes people who say, "oh, it'll pass by real quick!", and I'm like, "hells no..you've got to be kidding me". But now, look who's right. Yeah, not me.
I wore this outfit on my little trip to Ikea with the parents. I have to admit that I do enjoy going to Ikea. Who doesn't love cheap furniture and funny Swedish names on every item? I have a feeling my entire dorm room next year will be decked out in Ikea-ware because firstly, I will be broke. Come to think of it..I already have a lot of things from Ikea right now. Most of them are fairly intact but my chest dresser's middle drawer keeps falling down on me. That either says that the dresser sucks or perhaps I have too many clothes.. HM I wonder which one it is..

Either way, shopping ban for the rest of this month. Dammits I wants fall fashion :( Maybe I shouldn't have spent all my money on bubble tea and chunky scarves. Oh well, too late. Until next time!

So this outfit may make me look all precious and gentle, but believe me, I am not even close to that. I wore this out to have a girl's day out with my favorite three. The day consists of shopping(mostly window shopping unfortunately), food, and wandering aimlessly in search of a frozen yogurt joint. We decided on American Joe's for lunner. You will not believe how quickly I scarfed down that cheeseburger. Hungry girl eats what hungry girl wants..
Also, has anyone been feeling this cooler weather kickin' in? I had to wear a scarf at one point, which kinda excites me yet also makes me sad that summer is coming to an end. It's a bittersweet feeling. Anyways, Happy Labor Day. Hope you guys end up doing some shopping.. AH. I must finish another 100 pages of Of Human Bondage before allowing myself to go to the mall. Dammit. Stupid conscience.

Yes, I had to quote Spongebob. Come on, you guys have heard of this overused phrase right? Good, ok. We're on the same page. As I'm typing up this blog post, I'm smelling some good cooking downstairs...I'm hungry now. But of course, I will resist until I finally post this up. Bonus points for not abandoning this post? Yes please.
Anyways, I'm finally back from my summer hiatus. I did loads of vacation stuff over in California, basically covering the LA area and the OC. Anyone live around that area? I practically found things to do almost everyday. I will miss the weather, especially when it gets freezing cold over here. It's good to be back home(in a way), but the end of a vacation means the beginning of school. Is it weird that I'm looking forward to it? It is my senior year. I guess you win some and you lose some. Can't have it all.
I feel like I'm just randomly blabbing.. Oh yes! I've also had the opportunity to go to the ISA NYC concert and stayed for one night in Brooklyn last week. The second day consisted of so much shopping in SoHo. I went to Uniqlo(I am so bummed I don't have this store in MA), TopShop, Madewell..all that good stuff. I picked up this cuff there too, at some store called Necessary Clothing. I've been interested in Turquoise jewelry for a bit, but never quite found the right cuff with the right price. New York has it all..

School in a week. I'll try to post when I can! Thanks for the comments guys :)

Polly wants a Cracker(and some tights please)

I know it's hot out friends, but you know how sometimes you think tights just perfect the outfit? I'm waiting until I can add on layers and a nice pair of tights with some denim cutoffs(maybe when I'm at the airport next week going to California!). All of those fall collections coming out in stores makes me want to grab some tights, a little fall dress, and the chunkiest sweater I can find. This one site has some funky tights that I can't wait until autumn to wear. Anyone heard of tights with houses on it? I haven't either until I stopped at Pretty Polly(isn't the name fun?). Take a look at them here. Houses! I've seen dots, cats, triangles, but no houses.. At least someone thought of it! Pretty snazzy, I'd say. I should buy them for my mom and tell her to wear them during open houses(she's a real estate agent). You gotta dress like what you do right? I also think the alphabet tights are fun. Perhaps I'll have to wear them with my Alphabet tee from American Apparel.

Living in New England, the weather is pretty unpredictable, so one day I'm in shorts and the other I can be wearing a sweater so tights are definitely key to many of my outfits.
I'm usually in thigh highs because I like the look of them but they always tend to fall down on me but these are mock thigh highs that won't fall. I think I may need to grab a pair when the sun finally decides to not burn me to death(sadly this is not soon!).

Until then, I will be chilling(literally) in some AC until California(which I weather channel'ed and saw that it is cooler there than in Boston..what?) Which reminds me, I will not be updating until I get back! Consider it a blogging break. I'll try not to shop too much(I'm just saying this to please my mom..no worries guys I'll bring some stuff back to show here hehe).

Not much to say today, other than I think I may be going on vacation to Europe!! I AM SO EXCITED. Let's hope I'll get to go.. How in the world am I going to fit almost two weeks of clothes for Paris and Milan in my suitcase?

How was everybody's Independence Days? Since I do happen to be situated in the historical city of Boston, I am privileged by its often spectacular events. Yes, we do have Evacuation Day(except I don't get it off because I live 10 minutes away and not IN the city..ridiculous right?), but I have always enjoyed July 4. In all the years my parents have worked at their business, they have never taken the holiday off until this year! That's a total of 14 absences of barbecues, obnoxious family photos, and hair smelling of sea salt. I have been deprived of the festivities that come with this particular day. So to celebrate this year, my parents and I went to the outlet(my mom knows me too well..)! I purchased this American Apparel skirt for $20, originally $58. Yup, yup folks. I do pride myself in being a bargain hunter. I also pulled an alphabet tee alongside, just because. Oh and please excuse my slight slouch. That I do not take pride in.
I'm going to end with some photos that truly captured the rest of my July 4. I hope that they will bring back good memories for you also.

Heat Waves

Has anybody been experiencing occasional hot flashes? I'm sure I've had at least two today walking outside. This long range of heat waves is really getting to me. This body is not meant for extreme weather conditions. Back to fashion related ramblings.. Sometimes I'm tired of trying to hide bra straps. I have to admit that fashion is in fact(for the most part) not effortless. We push ourselves through tons of unnecessary procedures to look good(I'm not saying it's bad to look good!), and sometimes, I get sick of it and say.. to hell with it! Stick-ons, tape, waxing, blahidy blah. We'll all look good without those additions anyways. Although I have to say we must keep onto one item--deodorant. These photos might not show it, but I was literally sweating a storm those ten minutes out there(perhaps longer). Whew!

Oh sweet summer bliss; days full of food, friends, and interesting things strung from absolutely boredom and freedom. In just one week of summer, I've been shopping more than I have in a couple months and eating more than what is considered healthy.Plus, I don't think I have been speaking of my Pierre Hardy for Gap shoes I got at a consignment shop around town.. YES. They are awesome. And guess how much I got them for? $16 USD my friends.. How is this so? I guess no one understood its awesomeness or had a big foot like myself. Either way, they lost out and I got in. Ha. They were a bit loose in the ankle area, but I got that fixed the old-school way, a la hammer and nail.

Isn't the resemblance between our vanilla layered cake and golden oreo uncanny? I'd say so.. either way, it was delicious. I think I had three slices. I am a sucker for pastries and sweet goods. Good food=happy Francesca. That simple!

Sex or the City?

I'd have to choose...neither. How about Fashion instead? Sounds like a deal. So I'm going to be discussing one of my favorite tv shows/movies. Yes that's right, you guessed it! Prison Break! Ha, no I'm joking. Yes, I'm talking about Sex and the City. Did I get you?

Before I get started on my main topic, I'd like to note: I'm done with my Junior Year!! It feel so good to be done and enter a completely new world called 'summer'. At school, I felt like Nemo trapped in a fish tank, throughout the year struggling to make it down that drain to the Big Blue(in my case, summer vacation). And how fine it feels...freedom!

As I was saying, I've really grown attached to certain outfits through the first movie and would really like to share them. I've only seen the second movie once in theaters, so I can't say I've seen it enough to remember every outfit clearly enough. What I like to do is look back at the outfits and actually look at them. The thing about the movies is that each scene passes so quick that it is difficult to notice the small details. Instead of trying to imagine every outfit in my head, I'm going to show you in an assorted array of images. If you are not a SATC fan already, please check out the series. After watching the first movie a couple times, I was hooked and could not watch the series any faster.

I was instantly attracted to his outfit that she wears on Baby Rose's birth day. I couldn't find a better and bigger image of this, so this is the best I could do. I was looking through the SATC book that included descriptions of the clothing labels and found out something interesting about the jacket. Apparently, they deconstructed what use to be a Dior(or some other big label) coat and fused it with a leather jacket. You can't see the straps at the collar, but you can definitely see the soft meets tough thing going on closer up. With the bronze and the pastels...AH I would wear it

How about that Ralph Lauren pantsuit on Carrie?There are so many outfits that I did enjoy and some I tend to question, but I found it difficult to get good images of them to put here on the blog. If I could go into all the outfits, seriously I would. But I'm sure no one really wants to hear it..

I'm going off into a weekend of BBQ and shopping.. :) Cheers to the weekend.

PS. Anyone notice the re-amp of the blog? Tell me what you think.. I got a bit sick of the header and the old stuff. Out with the old and in with the new!(my new philosophy, however that doesn't apply to my closet)

Prim and Prom-per

I'm wearing...H&M dress..H&M earrings...Aldo shoes.

I had to add a really cheesy/corny title :) I just had my junior prom this weekend and I had to say that I haven't had that much fun in a long time. I wore a H&M dress and bought some ribbon at Michael's to give it some shape and a touch of color. I didn't want to go all out for junior prom but rather save my money for next year. So after hours of speed walking, chomping on pad thai, and experimentation, this is what we looked like! I'm the one in the black dress(for you non-regular visitors, thanks for checking out my blog!), my best friends are along side me: Jennifer is in purple, Vicky is in red, and Stephanie is in white.
After hours of dancing the night away, it occurred to me that I had SAT the next day(aka today). I was trying to get enough sleep but of course, in midst of the night, a thunderstorm just happened to come right outside the two windows next to bed. The earplugs did not help. Let's hope I did well....

Digital Manipulation

So last week in my Photo class, we were doing a project in Digital Manipulations to photos on photoshop. I usually don't like to add too much razzle and dazzle to photos rather than fixing the levels, curves, color balance..ladeda. But these effects are pretty interesting and cool when you use them right. There are cinema-like photos(professional looks for a girl who spends all her money on clothes and food), water reflections..you'll have to see :)
One more thing! I found this cool site that will plant a tree if you have a little button on your blog, so I've placed one on my sidebar------>
This program plants a tree to neutralize your carbon footprint. Imagine how much CO2 we produce while we are blogging away and surfing facebook for no reason. Check it out and get involved. It's a great little something to do that takes barely any time at all.

Yikes, I've not been updating lately. What have I been doing? Uh..it's not a ton of homework, that for sure. So what have I really been doing? Not so sure.. Oh right. Eating ice cream. I bought/ate ice cream three times this week. There goes all my money.
I've actually been taking a bunch of street photography earlier this week and would love to share them with you soon! I actually had an entire body shot of my junior prom dress(from H&M), but for some reason the file didn't convert to jpg so I can't upload it yet. I went into my photo room during study to do some photoshop on these couple photos. How I wish I had photoshop! If only it didn't cost that much. :(
I'm actually excited for junior prom. Why? Dressing up. I have June SAT the next day. Not good. We'll see how that goes...

I finally got my May SATs over with! Whew! I'm going to retake it in June..but let's just worry about that later. Standardized tests are such a pain.
I wore this but as a shorter version(belts can do miracles), and let it down later when we went for Thai food. While I was outside waiting for my mom, some guy on a bike(creepy guy with sunglasses) passes by and stares at me. Then he eventually goes back the other way and says, "hello....". Creepy. I'm not wearing this dress around there anymore.
I spent the rest of my day making glass chip magnets. I found a huge pack of glass chips in the sale section at TJ Maxx(so random right?) and got them for $4.50. Yes! Arts and crafts! I thought of selling my magnets once but figured no one would buy them, so I just make them for my desk.

Stupid Thoughts

Here's another selection of photos from New York! It took me awhile to post up these pictures mostly out of laziness and the fact that I had to upgrade on Flickr(I've already used 200 photos?!). Seriously, I take up so much space on my computer with photos that perhaps I'll just squish it all into my Flickr Pro account. One thing that scares me is that someone has estimated that the internet will not last long because of the exceeded bandwidths..and soon it will be gone. GONE. What will happen to the world of blogging? It's so difficult to imagine that our precious internet could possibly disappear all of a sudden. Everyone counts on the internet...online shop managers, us bloggers, corporate people... But then again, no internet would sure give me a hell of a lot of free time..HM what to do with all that time? The internet sure does consume time and drive us nuts at certain times..

I never figured restaurants would ever charge a set tip fee on the bill until I came to this place, Thai...69 or 59 or something. It's on 51st street. The waitress fumbled with my spoon and it fell into my noodles that just came out, and also my scrunched chopstick wrapper also fell in. She took it and said she'd get me a new one. Oh please, we all know you'll bring the same thing back.. I'm not testy with these things; they are accidents. But they charged us 18% tip on our bill already, like we had to pay it. I thought it was outrageous. I've never seen a set tip for two people at a teeny restaurant(it was pretty much a hole in the wall restaurant). Goodness!

A little trip to Lombardi's with my dad. Apparently, it's the first pizzeria in America. What prestige! It's like being at Harvard! Ha, no not really. But the pizza is good.

Casual outfit yesterday. I got to testing out my new camera! The lighting was just great yesterday, and I can't wait to shoot some more photos. It might not be a DSLR, but it's coming close enough for me. It's a Nikon P90 Coolpix 12.1 MP. Valerie W. from Beauty and the Budget asked me if I prefered Nikon, and to be honest, I don't have any preference. I've used Fuji and Casio for digital cameras and Olympus and Canon for film, and now Nikon. I don't really swear by any brand and think it's best to find what suits me by using whatever comes my way. By the way, are the sizes of the photos okay? I am thinking about changing the layout.

Big News! Well, for me. I'm going to stay in New York City for three days for vacation next week! *happy dance* I haven't been to NYC since three years ago, so I just can't wait to go back and experience it. I'm going to visit a couple colleges in the city and one in Poughkeepsie. So it's going to be..Marist, NYU, Parsons, and FIT. I am definitely going to dive into the Boston college pool soon, but not yet. I'd much rather roam New York and drag my dad around to every shop(sorry dad...I love you!). Too bad my mom couldn't come with us. Inside, she's a huge shopaholic but she holds it in to set a good example.. I'm telling you, it's the genetics.

I've been going on expedia to look for budget hotels and can't quite pick which one to stay at. I found the Pod Hotel, which is kind of dorm-like. It's inexpensive and not terrible...I mean, who's going to be staying in their hotel room all-day when you're in midtown Manhattan? Right. I'm just a tad skeptical to whether or not my dad will fit in a twin bed.. he's pretty tall. Oh well, you get what you pay for. I'd rather save $100 and use that on food and shoes. :)

So, today I tried to mix up my backgrounds in my photos and ventured to the depths of my backyard(uh, kind of). There's this one section where it's all trees and leaves, and I thought, hey! Nature! That would look great.. Instead of capturing incredible pictures, my flats sunk into piles and piles of leaves. I spent a couple minutes fishing out the acorn leftovers and leaf bits in my already dying flats. I'm the kind of person who likes to get my money out of something, as in "use it until it dies". I think my flats may have reached that stage. I bought it about one year ago and I've tortured it through miles of terrain, but it just might be time for these babies to retire. *tear tear*
I don't really own anything floral, but this little dress was quite charming! I couldn't resist it on etsy, so I had to buy it. It makes me feel so wonderfully girly. The pictures of the dress didn't come out as well I wish they did because the sun was going down, but hopefully I won't need long sleeves soon for this dress.

Northern Lights and Skies

I have to admit that I have the biggest weakness for beautiful sunsets. I'm the dork that would just stare up at the sky until it fades to black and just look up while I am walking and just keep saying "wow.." until all my words slur into one.
This one day had the most beautiful skies. I was happy that I was able to take a couple snapshots with my Blackberry(I didn't bring my camera along), but the photos came out magnificent. I highly recommend the Blackberry Curve 8900 for photos...fantastic! But maybe it's not the camera that's the best.. Perhaps it is just nature itself..

This outfit is from yesterday when the sun was shining yet again. Today is rather gloomy and looks as if the sky is about to tear up and release its wrath on innocent citizens(but I guess this is what we get for global warming?). I was actually wearing my American Apparel swirly tights with this outfit, but I had taken them off and then realized that I was going to take an outfit photo. For some reason my legs and skin looks very bronze in these photos... In real life my skin is more like stale yellowish-tannish-beigeish.
If you haven't seen H&M Garden Collection, I wanted to show you one piece. I have been looking for a good neutral, comfortable blazer for who knows how long when I stumbled upon this blazer when I was not initially going to buy anything(tsktsk Francesca!). Blazers' shoulders usually ride up when I move my arms and I can barely lift my hands above my head without the entire garment going upwards too. I was so surprised when I found it because I guess it was as good as it was going to get at $34.95. I can see myself pairing it with almost anything and everything.
The tee I am wearing has a cutout shape in the back resembling something like a skeleton. I was thinking about selling them and making them when my friend, Karen, was obsessed with its cutouts.
If I am willing to make them to sell(whenever I have time), would anyone be interested in purchasing one?

Third Degree Burn

Wow! The weather in Boston has been crazy lately. I remember last week when the rain was pouring nonstop and now its all sunshine and butterflies and buttercups. Last weekend, the temperatures hit 75F and I finally got to wear something other than rainboots and a poncho-like jacket. Did I mention that I went to Target just to buy a random pair of rainboots? I was afraid of completely submerged my red converse shoes in a huge puddle again. I am absolutely terrible with extreme temperatures and weather. As you can tell, my face in the first photo is less than pleasant. Too hot, too cold, too wet..they all don't quite work well with me.
The sunlight was so bright that I barely had to edit my photos. I originally posted them without edits but some shadier parts bothered me, so my OCD fixed them up
. If you take a look at my head, there happens to be a little flash of red. That's right. I've highlighted my hair with a reddish-violet hue. You can't really see the color well in these photos but I will take better photos soon.
The shoes in the fourth photo is Michael Kors. I'm fond of MK, I have to say. I like classic, contemporary things. The rest are photos from a dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen. It was my friends' idea to eat there. I personally think the place is overpriced. The food is just okay for me... Must try some new places later.

Haha, no I'm kidding. I don't sit in front of my computer all day and stare at incoming updates...I swear!
So the main reason I am writing a short post today is to try a new idea.. For the most part, this blog is about personal style, fashion, and artsy-related things. But most of my life isn't about fashion(although at times I wish it was). I'm not rich. I don't have access to fashion shows or designer bags. The closest I will ever get to Prada shoes is probably in Saks' display cases and to be honest, I spent over 50% of my income(aka mom's money) on food rather than clothes. I'm not super glamorous, but I love to dress up when I can. I wear hoodies and jeans from who knows when to school every morning(I've given up wearing heels last year after going through 4 flights of stairs after the lunchtime period).
My point is, that there is a whole bunch of stuff rather than fashion in my life that I hope to include here on this blog very soon! I'm sorry if that will bore you a bit, but expect pictures of food and random blurbs soon!

Lois Lane

I took these photos a while back, perhaps two weeks ago? Or maybe three... To be honest, I've just been so caught up in everything that time is just blurring into one vast clump of numbers and dates.
I was trying to get the guy in the second shot while in a car, so I just opened the window and pointed my camera right at him. You can probably tell what's coming. He turned and looked straight at me and my car was just driving away. He had the most confused and slightly violated expression on, like I had disrupted his peaceful walk. Oopsies. I just liked the scene. Plus, being a photographer, I can't help myself but capture little moments. Don't mind me...

Anyways, that's not what I intended on blogging about today. What I meant to focus on was my leadership program in my community. This program helps me to "discover unique careers", so we go on field trips to work sites and meeting up with my mentor. I actually just got off of an informational interview, where I am the one who gets to ask the questions about what someone in a particular career field does during the day and what kind of responsibilities there are. My mentor's name is Chazy(pronounced sha-zee) and she was so nice and so cultured and full of life. She told me she was turning 60 but I would never guess so because there's this certain liveliness in her that could make anyone love her.

As I was saying, she's an editor for two regional newspapers(that are linked), and she said she started from the ground up. Chazy had begged for a position at her local newspaper to cover weddings after college. I asked her why and when she knew she wanted to work in the media field as an editor and she told me if she said why, I would laugh. Chazy said it was because of Lois Lane in Superman(she is a reporter in the comic series and later, movie). I thought it was the cutest thing! She had this little framed picture of a scene from the movie with an autograph by the original actress. She said to me that it was the way that newspapers and the media could reach out to people and reveal stories, truths, and understanding that led her to being an editor. I never quite looked at it that way. The media really could give the common people a "voice".
After two hours of talking, I feel so inspired to get out there and blog more, live more, and get more experiences. I want to...read more magazines, read the newspaper, take more pictures...fill my life up of different elements and then essentially tie them all together one day for that one career that I will love.
I don't know if I want to do journalism, publishing, marketing, or design. All I know is that I want to find that one thing I'm passionate about.

Fashion Week is a bit late over here

So, I've clearly been away for awhile doing important things. HA, no. Well, my school actually had its annual art club fashion show. I made a couple pieces, but to be honest, I got so sick of sewing real quick. I actually only sewed one piece. All the other pieces were either pinned, tied, or something in those terms. I admit that I can never be a designer. This show was just an attempt for me, but I guess I will try harder next year when I am a senior. I believe that some people are just "meant" to do certain things, and I am not meant to be a designer. Designers can think of these fresh ideas and make them into reality. I wish I could do that...but I'd rather just watch and enjoy the view. haha. That's my perspective, anyway.

Be Be Your Love

Hi Spring! I see you've finally decided to come after the long week of sleet and rainy days. It feels so good to be outside without feeling that cold air suffocating me everywhere I go. Now, it's like...I can breathe! That made no sense.
As you can probably tell, I've been a lazy ass ever since vacation. To be honest, all I've really been up to is "doing homework" and watch Prison Break. I was so obsessed with finishing watching the series that I couldn't focus on anything else. When I start to watch too much tv, it really hits me hard. When I get up, I get all dizzy and awkward because I've been sitting for too long and then I get "too much tv syndrome", where I'm stuck in some world where I feel that it's okay to lay around and not do any work until my study period. So yes, that's what I've been up to. Does anyone watch that show? Wentworth Miller is so good looking, haha. Okay, I'll stop now before the syndrome kicks in.
To celebrate this day of "spring", I wore some sheer tights? *gasp* What?! SHEER?! Yes, that's right. After slipping on some barely there tights, I headed to my class as usual and grabbed my usual chocolate chip cookie at Au Bon Pain. You know when you're going to grab the cookie with the wax paper, and you feel that it's obviously hard/too crisp, and then you just kind of move around and touch the other cookies to find the perfectly moist one? It's probably not a good thing to do, but who wants to purchase a unsatisfying cookie?
I just got an iTouch and I love it so much. Technology is too advanced. Now I can sit on my bed and check out blogs and talk on im without getting off my ass. It's great! Main reason why I got it.
The last two photos are of my colorsology reading based on my birthday. Apparently, my color is "pastel lilac". Interesting...I've always pictured myself as a darker shade of color. According to this, I'm partner-orientated, stylish, and funny. Haha, I've never really thought of myself as funny.

Looks like spring is coming soon and the sky is clearing up for some sunglass-worthy skies. This is a panoramic view of a boring and somewhat suck-ish beach in my town that I shot a while back, but when the sky is perfect and the view is clear...some things just don't really matter. It's like this sudden rush of tranquility that makes it seem as if nothing else really matters...the people I have to please, the work I have to finish, the stress in the near future.
At night when I have to go out to take out the trash or retrieve some mail, I look up at the stars and think about how small I am in this big universe. How I am just one person in this world, in this galaxy, in this universe that is made up of who knows what. There are so many things beyond what I am in control of and everything just seems so massive compared to me. And I think, wow, my small daily problems are nothing. I look up and they don't seem to matter anymore because at the end of the day, there are bigger and better things in this world to look forward to and to see.

I Don't Need No Valentine

I think I've had my best Valentine's Day to date. No boys. No sulking. Just friends and good food. That's what it's really all about you know? This day isn't about couples only and lovey dovey valentine's day notecards. It's about the love. HA that was cheesy.
Anyways, I went out with my three girlfriends to a Japanese restaurant in town and ordered some bento box with chicken teriyaki, tempura, gyozai(or something like that..) because I'm not into the sushi craze. They think I'm crazy for not liking sushi but the taste of seaweed is just kind of odd for me. I was originally excited about heading to Friendly's for ice cream and fattening chicken with bbq sauce and a buttload of fries but we forgot how packed the place got on Valentine's Day. It's Lunar New Year also if you guys didn't know! Double holiday :) Well, I'm not sure if I consider Valentine's Day to be a holiday.
I was never really sure if I looked good in a fedora, but I saw one at Forever 21 for a crazy low price so I decided to buy it. The color strap was very summery but I found some black strap fabric and toned it down to "February weather". If that makes sense...

Splat Splat Splat everywhere

I thought it would be fun to do a post not really fashion-related and talk about what I do in my photography class right now! We actually did this last week. My class is focusing on abstract photography and to continue on from the ice project(see previous posts), we started a new project where we fill balloons with paint, put them against a wall(in a box) and throw darts at them! Seems more like painting than photography to me at first but later on we grabbed our cameras and snapped photos of the paint while it was wet and after it dried.
The best part of this is when I threw the dart and it hit the "bulls eye". You'll never know what shapes and sizes or where the paint will go, literally. I think some people still have paint on the bottoms of their sneakers..like my two friends in the photo. One girl threw the dart so hard that the paint flew out towards her and almost splattered all over her. That would have been funny...but poor clothes!
I'll update some of the photographs when I'm done photoshopping them for my class :)

A Pop of Red, White and Blue

I didn't quite notice my patriotic spirit today. I never notice these kinds of things..most times because I get dressed five minutes before I have to grab a toasted croissant(this is on the good days when there is breakfast available), my tumbler of tea, and my backpack and head out to the train station. The thing I dislike the most is that dawn is the coldest time of the day, which makes sitting and waiting for the train not so fun in the winter. Basically this is as fun as my outfits get on a weekday. I consider wearing this one coat exciting compared to my royal blue puffy coat that covers my entire upper body. It's so warm though so I don't regret buying it at all! If you live in Massachusetts, always invest in one of these.
I picked up this cardigan a while back but never really wore it because I thought I "lost" it. Oops. I forgot how awesome the buttons are--they were the main reason I bought it! They're little pearls and kind of remind me of Christmas. Also got some boots from Bakers. I like how they resemble oxfords when I put my jeans over them. It's a win-win situation either way. The only thing is that the quality isn't top-notch, but I guess I can't be too picky because I purchased them for fifty bucks. Is it weird that I love the way it makes a slight clackity clack sound when I walk in the hallway?

A Blackberry can do Wonders

Please excuse my strange expression in the first photo. I ask my mom to help me takes outfit photos on the weekends since assembling and using my old tripod(not to mention it has one short leg) would take half an hour or so.
Sunday calls for my most casual and classic outfits--the standard white tee, cardigan and khaki trouser combo. It never fails me. Plus, I don't have to worry about taking off a billion layers while trying on clothing at the mall. In the wintertime, it's the worst.
I have to get ready to take my midterms this following week, so I'll be hard at work..or hardly working. Maybe both?

I have to admit it's very difficult to dress exciting(and excitingly) when it's clearly below freezing. I have to wear so many layers that the only body parts you see that show skin are around my eyes. So, there's the reason to why I've been dressing like a sack of clothes all piled onto one person. The picture above is on the day I had a ride so you can see my face.
Basically all I've been doing lately is school school school because midterms are coming up. On Saturdays though I am now taking a painting class at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I'm an amateur at the class and I'm just there to have fun. I actually got motivated to take one after reading an essay in Fiske's Real College Essays That Work. Kind of corny right?

To balance my lack of outfit pictures this week(and last week) I'm presenting you with my photos I took in my Renaissance photography class at school. We are making abstract photographs with ice and food coloring and I got some cool results. I got food coloring all over my hands that won't come off. Just in case you guys ever play with food coloring, wear gloves! I also have paint on me too..so pretty much I'm my own canvas or something.. The Sky is Clearing up! DARN.

The snowing was falling lightly since last night. If only it was snowing until the next morning, heavily. So I would have no school. Sniff. If vacation wasn't ending, I wouldn't really care much for the snow..
So today I convinced my mom to take me to the beach(yes I know that it is winter) for my photo project focusing on panoramic photos. I tried to take some pictures of the ocean. The islands in the background almost looked like mountains. Man, I wish we had a mountain view from Massachusetts. When I was in Seattle, I marveled at the mountains I could see in the distance. I thought it was soo cool, but my friend who lived there was used to it(like I am used to heavy snow and strange New England weather..). Anyways, after a bit my mom wanted me to take some pictures and we got to do some outfit photos. Today was almost the perfect day, following with PizzaHut and European pastries..

Can you believe it's another year already? The countdown to midnight went so quick I barely realized it was a new year. I always see these New Yorkers having the time of their lives watching the Apple drop and absorbing everybody's energies---which I want to do one day! It looks like too much fun to miss. I normally don't like taking photos inside but it was actually snow showering outside.
I found everything I wore today from secondhand shops. I have a knack for finding stuff for good prices(well, at least I hope so!). I got the denim shirt and Coach bag for the total of $24. YEAH NO KIDDING. I had a 50% coupon with me, and I swear the bag was underpriced because it was in the best condition! The dress I got at a Buffalo Exchange with the tag and everything from UO for $17.50! It's the perfect spring dress..but I couldn't wait until then. I know what I will wear on my birthday :) Anyways..Oh god, I'm so full right now. I had two pastries going on three a big ass bowl of soup. New Years equals more reasons for me to eat. Yum.
So I decided this year I wasn't going to make a resolution. Usually, it's 'don't spend so much', but I don't think I'll include that one this year.. haha. It never quite works..

Happy Early New Year!
This is just in case I don't get to post beforehand! Hope you attempt to follow your New Year's Resolutions(I know I won't ;) )

My Christmas was pretty simple with very little gifts involved but hey it's all about the giving right? How was everyone's holidays? I know that I haven't been taking outfit posts lately and that's mostly because it's vacation and it makes me very lazy indeed. I will update this week though, I hope.

I just went to Target yesterday and convinced my mom to love Target as much as I do(it went successfully). I roamed around the tiny section for Rodarte for Target and tried on a couple pieces. I found a liking for the baby blue dress(which I want to exchange for a size smaller if there are any left, well anywhere) and bought that one. I also tried the yellow slip dress but my mom said it looked funny on me..perhaps I'm not meant for yellow? For now, I'm going to have to belt it to make it more fitting. I'll take more pictures and talk about the collection later.

A Billion Pictures Speaks a Billion Words

There's been too much going on, I can't really put it all into words but I will attempt to. So here it is: photo vomit and food porn all for you to see :)

My regular winter sledding outfit: ski jacket from middle school my mom bought for me two sizes too big, sweatpants with leggings underneath, hat, and too many hoods it makes it seem like I have no hair. If you haven't sled before, do it. It's a blast and it's wicked funny when your friend slips and falls and goes all the way down the hill by accident. hahaha.

No worries, I wasn't drinking. But the glass was pretty :)

Yes, there is a reason for the food porn. My mom's childhood friend from Australia came to visit today, so we all went out to a Malaysian restaurant to celebrate(for me, it's more like just eat a hell of a lot). The place is called Penang and it's located in Chinatown in Boston. It's had some rave reviews so whenever you're in town I highly recommend it! The pad thai is wicked good. The manager is apparently old friends with my mom and he gave us (the adults) a round of wine, a seafood dish, and some Indian pancake appetizers on the house. Talk about a good host! The service is superb and I felt like some kind of celebrity sitting there and eating food that never seemed to disappear. If you compare this one night to my regular everyday life, this is as glitzy as it gets! If I could eat like this once every..week...two weeks...err...month...I'd be set. Seriously.

An Ode to Comfy Sweaters

Today was surprisingly warm(I'm talking like 40sF or so?). Yes, that's considered warm here..so I'm embracing it! I've taken out the puffy jackets and down stuffed marshmellow coats already and I'm sad to see my leather jacket get tucked away. Until Spring my love!
Pretty simple outfit for today. Comfy sweater, favorite worn and torn scarf, and jeans. Which reminds me.. I need a new pair. I saw a pair at H&M for 40 bucks but I think I've been spending way too much money this holiday season. Which is weird considering I've only bought a present for my mom and one secret santa project.. Wait, I did get a Kate Spade bag(via consignment, I'm so proud) and some other clothes.. And a hat.. Okay, I need to go on a shopping break..after this weekend. :)
I've been working on this secret santa present that consists of multiple parts and I'm pretty excited about it. I can't tell you what it is because I bet my friend will find out some how!
So does anyone else ever just wander around stores and look at beautiful things but can't afford anything? It's so sad whenever i go into Anthropologie. I'm not the wealthy type and all of the things and home decor(lust,lust,lust) makes my heart swoon and then I walk out with only memories and no actual object. But! I did get some cute notebooks on sale the other day for a couple bucks. I've lately started to have a crave for stationery even though no one writes to me. So, I'm just using them as my artist journals and pages of random ramblings.

Autumn don't leave me

How can Winter not be here but Autumn seems so far behind? I've been having a wicked lazy weekend including staying at home and sorts..
On Friday, I went to this consignment shop and I found a bunch of items I wanted to buy.. It's good I had a 50% off coupon by taking a survey. I eventually got a Kate Spade tote and a red cardigan from Banana Republic for about 50 dollars. I still think the cashier messed up the total because no matter how I tried to calculate it, it wouldn't come out to be that amount. With these shops though, they don't have standard receipts so I think I got cheaped out of 10 bucks(which is a lot since I'm broke). Well, hope you have a good rest of the weekend!

Chocolates and Colored Pens

I think I've been wasting too much time at Target looking at random things that I don't need and ever will need.. except for that chocolate. I remember whenever I crossed the border to Canada, there would be these "duty-free" stores full with wine, makeup, cigarettes, and expensive-looking chocolates and my dad would always get a couple boxes of these Guylian chocolates. So, since then, I've always looked for them and the only place I could find them was in the boxed chocolate aisle at Target. I think I'll be picking some more up on December 20th, when Rodarte for Target is open for business.

After browsing in Target on a lazy Sunday, I saw a stack of plain, grided, and lined notebooks I spent a good ten minutes or so wondering which size I should get. The idea came to me to make a small "artist journal" for random doo-dads and doodling and thoughts after I saw a book about artist pages. I don't really consider myself an artist but I do like to draw randomly and let my ideas freeflow. So, here's a little snippet of what I've been doing.

Perhaps Too Pink

So, I use to be strangely proud of not enjoying the color pink so much. I think it was one of my friend's opinions that changed mine. I remember her saying: "pink is such an artifical color..that's why I don't like it!" And so, I was influenced by what she said. We all don't like to admit that we are easily influenced and affected by these small opinions but where would we be without our friends' opinions? And so, I've avoided pink for some time. You can look into my wardrobe and the closest to pink you would find is gray(no I'm not kidding). It was not until one day I was going around in Forever21 and spotted this skirt. I was the kind of vibrant pink I would deliberately shun..but for some reason it I was drawn to it. It was like a bowl of curry in front of my face with an empty stomach. Terribly difficult to not overindulge. And even one of my close friends noticed and said, "Franny! You're wearing pink!"
I hope you enjoyed my lame story.
Anyways, moving on.. How were your Thanksgivings? I normally didn't have turkey but a simple dinner then a gathering of my relatives to hotpot. We spent the entire night being fascinated with my cousin's WiiFit game, especially when my cousin(a he), did the super hula hoop game with unnecessary spazzing dance moves. My dad was so amused that the next day we got the game ourselves! Other than that I just stayed at home and randomly painted on some new canvases I bought at Michael's on Black Friday. Yes, I buy art supplies on the biggest sale day of the year instead of electronics.
Besides playing video games and painting, I probably spent the rest of my short vacation watching all the Sex and the City episodes. I've seen the movie a good twenty times but I never watched the seasons, so I decided to start now. I'm already at the third season so I consider that an accomplishment. Anyways, I've got to go finish my mission(watching more tv).

Super simple outfit for a day of shopping. Nothing's better than an almost all-day shopping spree with a best friend. Honestly, I spent too much time at the local mall burning calories as I wander and having mango chicken samples from the thai mall food. Those combos they offer are impossibly too much for even two people..but who's going to complain? Besides that, we ran across stacks of turquoise-y bracelets that would look great with a simple tee on my lazy days. Maybe I'll add that to my mental Christmas wishlist..
I'm trying to find a perfect pair of flat, short ankle boots that I can wear all winter. I was thinking maybe these from Nine West..what do you think?

Hi there. How's life? Pretty good, thanks.

I think my friends and I were playing American Idol too long on my playstation 2. We spent a good one or two hours shouting and harmonizing(more shouting actually) to classic songs like Alone, Build me a Buttercup, and Saving all my Love for You. When Proud Mary came on, we did some crazy dance where we have to do the wheel motion and bob our heads violently to the music. Fun? Yes. Necessary? No, not really.
This was a randomly thrown together outfit the other day. Sometimes waking up half an hour late doesn't give me much time to apply lotion and just put my folders in my backpack. I've been starting to consider animal prints lately.. I don't own much, except for this dress, maybe one top, and a scarf. What do you think about mixing prints? Have you noticed the similarity between the last post and this one? It's got to be the brenton stripes.. They are too versatile and it's particularly difficult for me to let go of them. I'm still stopping myself from wearing that Gap sweater tomorrow. Must..resist...
Afterschool, I went to my eye doctor's. Lately, my right eye(yes, just the right) has been awkwardly blurry. I detest straining to see pre-calculus problems on the board so I thought it was about time to go. I have these special contact lens that I wear overnight. They fix my vision and somehow reshape my eyeball(yes, I know this sounds weird). I always try to explain this to my friends..but maybe this will do the job: click
Other than being partly blurry-eyed, I've been doing some painting. Nothing like studio art, it's more like leisure time on the coffee table staring at a screen for a good five hours watching reruns of Rush Hour 3, Marley and Me, and whatever is on HBO. The best days are spent doing things that are pointless and completely a waste of time.

They are simple, pretty, and peaceful, but the most surprising thing about it is that on some days there are similarities--showing that no matter how far friends are apart, they are still close in heart.

The Sartorialist - 512 pages of Streetstyle by Scott Schuman. Need I say more?

The Teen Vogue Handbook- Looks interesting and useful for a girl like me. I'm ready to enter the Fashion World and maybe this book will be of help. Does anyone know if it is any good?

My Wonderful World of Fashion: A Book for Drawing, Creating, and Dreaming - Sure, this isn't a coffee table book but it's cute and I miss that little girl in me who used to color. Why not unleash my inner child?

I Love Your Style: How to Define and Refine Your Personal Style - I've never owned any style how-to books, but I've read a few. I've read the Nina Garcia series, but I haven't taken a look at the WhoWhatWear one. Does anyone have a review of that one? Well, this one just seems like a good starter to my soon expanding collection.

Insults and Comebacks for All Occasions - This one just seems like a hoot. It looks hilarious and there really is no point of owning it.. but that's never really stopped me from buying a book anyways.

Keel's Simple Diary - Okay, I know I have completely shifted from Coffee table books to books I just want. Or a diary in this case. But I love how simple this diary is. I never remember or feel as though I have to write too much to fill my diary that I stop doing it. Maybe this little thing will pick me up where I started.

Tell me if you've personally enjoyed any of these books or if you are interested in any of them. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Winter's Calling, but I don't want to Answer

I was browsing around the mall when I saw this XL Gap sweater. I've seen it once before and on Veteran's Day there were discounts. I couldn't help myself. It's versatile and I just want to wear it all the time(I'll refrain myself). Well, I already wore it twice in one week and made them into two little variations. They aren't that different, but when I have to wake at 6:30am and also working with my extreme laziness on a Sunday, this is as close as it gets.
If you were wondering who that woman is in the picture, it's actually my mom making a little appearance. If she ever sees this, she'll probably kill me. My mom is very picky about pictures and it has to look perfect before it is displayed. Sometimes my mom and I are so different but we do share a love for Italian pastries. Although most of the time she can't really remember the difference between the words "cannoli" and "bologna".
So, who is already starting Holiday shopping? I'm thinking about starting before Thanksgiving. I love the holiday rush, but sometimes it is just too stressful and overwhelming. Those flashbacks of lining up for 20 minutes in a crowded, stuffy store is a little too much for me this year. I think I should just shop on etsy and save myself some time and effort. :)

Yes, that's right I'm back in the blogosphere after how long...well, it's been a long time. No I haven't shun the internet entirely. I have been visiting blogs every so often and check my bloglovin' daily of course but I feel a bit disconnected from one of the reasons to why I love fashion so much--the everyday styles of bloggers like myself(well, what I use to be and now will be again!). It's one thing to just see, but it's another thing to be part of it and I miss it now. I'm hoping you don't hold my uber long hiatus against me!

Lately, I've been feeling very uninspired. I know I haven't updated for a bit. Lately, it seems like this blog has been draining me out a bit. I've been thinking for a while to call it quits. With a blog, I feel as if I have to be inspired and put together great outfits when the truth is, right now I haven't felt more uncreative and that I wore a hooded sweatshirt today(my friend even pointed out that she has never saw me in a hoodie).
So, I've decided that I should stop updating this blog. I might come back, I might not. I believe it's more important to inspire myself before I can inspire others. Maybe if I stop for now, I will find that inspiration again, and be more of myself. Thank you for all of those supporting and terrific comments you have left me. I really appreciate them, I do.

Thank goodness for Good Friday! This week has been so short, yet so long. Today was a breather and definitely something I needed. As a plus, the weather was treating me nicely today, so all I had to wear was a paper thin jacket.
I took the subway all the way to Davis Square in Somerville, Ma today to visit my friend at Tufts University and to also check out the local shops. I heard that it was a great place to go, so I figured hey, I've got time to kill!
I spent the day browsing away at cute consignment shops, boutiques, and vintage jewelry. I saw the turquoise cuff(first one) and I fell in love. They had it at this little place called La Chic Boutique. The name's a bit cheesy, but they have such a great affordable collection of vintage finds you won't find anywhere else. Also, did I mention they put up with me trying on every single ring and then putting it back? Haha.
I was determined to buy that turquoise cuff, but unfortunately I was lacking funds(as in I did not have $70). I couldn't stop looking at it; it was perfect! It's too bad my birthday is not until a month later. Drat. Instead, I went home with a classic watch(the batteries don't work, but that doesn't matter since I don't even look at the time anyways haha), and a substitute turquoise cuff. It's pretty cool, but not as great as the all-mighty(I have no idea why I chose this adjective). At least I left with only $9.45 on the receipt. Win win. I recommend this little shop and also Poor Little Rich Girl if you ever visit!

Outfit post as promised!

It's a wonder how the weather lightens up my mood. It was nice outdoors, so I pulled out that sheer light tank I bought yesterday with my most comfiest fit jeans. I went for simple and clean today. The floppy hat I bought recently was the cherry on the top.

I'm wanting some brunch for dinner. Haha. I'm thinking pancakes with strawberries with confectioner's sugar and a huge bowl of cheesy pasta. Mm.. Sounds too good right now. Too bad I'm short on cash, or else I'm heading to the Cheesecake Factory asap. I also want some Domino's Bacon Ranch pizza.
You know what sounds fun right now? Being a food critic. I have a thing for good food.

The gold necklace is my mom's from Vietnam. I think my grandmother gave it to her, back when. The chinese words mean 'happiness'. I'm really hoping one day it will be passed on to me.

I just bought a jacket for sailing today. You know how some jackets have a hole on the end of the sleeve for the thumb? It has that. It's incredible. I think that's mainly the reason why I bought it. :)

I've spent my Saturday watching Knowing and going shopping(finally!). I have to say that some of the things in the movie was a bit far-fetched, but worth watching. I still feel so much from the ingestion of pretzels, popcorn, sprite, and peach gummy rings.

My school had spirit week this week, and there was pajama day, 80's day, green day(st.patty's), tropical thursday, and a day when the sophomores have to wear white. So I'm thinking about rocking a total white outfit tomorrow. Lately, I am not able to find anything in my closet to wear! I really want to do some thrifting or vintage shopping soon. I planned to go before February vacation..and that didn't come through.

I actually had a lot of fun taking these photos! I didn't have the time to post these up earlier this week, but here they are!
These jazz shoes are actually jazz shoes that I bought years ago when I wanted to try out jazz. No, that didn't quite follow through, but at least I still have the shoes! They actually are a size or half a size small, so it can't be worn anywhere but in my backyard.
I found this old watch a couple days ago. It's one of those watches where you can changed the straps, and I just ditched the hot pink one for the classic black. The watch doesn't work anymore, but that's okay, because who actually looks at the time anyways right?

A Taste of Spring

Yesterday was just too nice to not opt for some shorts and wedges. It was springtime to me! Since this is New England, it's going to turn into a wintry mix with snow tomorrow. So I'll only get to enjoy the 60F weather for today. Too bad I'll be stuck home writing an essay on Great Expectations. Life rocks.

I got the bits and pieces of these earrings from Winter Rose Designs. You can check out the etsy shop here. They sell pieces of jewelry you can make into your own masterpiece. Since I'm not much of a jewelry designer, I got some that could be transformed very easily into earrings; as in I poke the earring hook through and call it art.

Hm, here are just some pictures. I like them, but not in love, as I have said. I am lacking inspiration and creative juices!

I'm suppose to be making something for my fashion art show. I'm in art club at my school, and it's set to be in less than a month! I haven't had any time to make my 'art', which I hope I do so very soon! I don't necessarily have to use fabric, because it is fashion ART. So, I'm thinking of aluminum foil, paper cutouts, lace bows, ribbons, extra curtain tulle...and a glue gun.

How is everyone's weekend so far? Yes..lack of posts, sorry! These photos were taken two days ago, but I did not have the time to put them up until today. I was experimenting with my u-neck dress from h&m. Yes, h&m. I saw it there, and it looked exactly like the American Apparel version. I had to try it on, and I was pretty satisfied with the result. Although the back was not as deep, it was pretty good for $14.99(I actually got a 20% discount so it was $11 something! oh man, I love a bargain).
So, my shoes came in pretty quick, with free shipping! They are pretty comfortable, because they have the adjustable laces. It's crazy how I use to be able to get a decent pair of boots for less than $100, but now sandals are pricing over $125. Well, at least I didn't break the bank right?
I'm waiting and waiting for spring so that I can wear this brightly yellow jacket out. Seriously, wearing such a happy color like this will probably put me in a good mood all day.

I instantly fell in love with this blouse when I saw it. It was the sleeves of course, in all its loveliness. I just love moving around it, and letting it sway around. I feel like one of those princes in their outrageous outfits and puffed up sleeves.

I purchased this blouse from Kristie from classy trash closet. She sent me a Thank You card with the purchase, which was also wrapped in tissue paper! Seriously, I felt like it was my birthday. Thank you so much!

I've also noticed that I wear a scarf, nearly everyday, with every outfit. I was thinking about this earlier, and I can't seem to recall the last time I have not. Besides the fact that I get cold very easily, is this a good or bad thing?

Sorry for being away for a while, but I'm back now! I'm hoping to post more outfit photos up and also some of the looks I like from fashion week.

I just received these pants from Weardrobe.com for a 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Wardrobe' program. I have to say I love them! They are so comfortable, and I'm excited to wear them more often. I'm also pretty crazy about this sheer top from Calvin Klein. I keep borrowing it from my mom. I just can't help myself!

Finally February vacation is here and I spent the entire day having a Friends marathon. I just can't get enough of that show.

Yes, it's the new year again! For me, anyways. Other then eating chinese new year food and having a huge feast consisting of crab, fish, shrimp cocktail, soup, and other delicious things, my weekend was on the down-low. Aw man, I'm feeling so freakishly full. I feel like I haven't been hungry for awhile. I better start exercising before I end up like a puffball or ball of squish.

Sorry for the terrible lack of updates this week! I have midterms in two days and everything is extremely hectic. I just wanted to post a couple pictures of some sketches I had done last year. They're pretty novice-y, but I like some of them. I wish I had more time to do some more! Also, there are a couple pictures of my inspiration board. I'll be sure to post a lot more next week!

Winter Skies

I took some pictures of the nice sunset today. I just love the colors.. if only I was on some tropical island..on a beach..sipping iced tea..

I've actually been imagining this outfit for a bit, and I wanted to try it out! I didn't wear it out yet, but I'm hoping too! I was shivering cold while taking these pictures. I'll probably need to layer three pairs of tights to not freeze. The knee high socks actually have a really awesome pattern on them but you don't see it in that picture I'm sure. I'll try to get a closer look some other time.

Sigh, well back to midterms studying while eating some noodles.

Today I went shopping downtown with my mom. We walked around in Macy's and DSW, and snacked on roasted nuts from a nearby cart. Man, those were good. We took public transportation, which my mom isn't too fond of[she believes that if you have a car, then you should use it]. Since it was going to snow later, she actually suggested it! She's actually terrified of the snow. And so..my mom was complaining about how she was wrapped up like a cocoon the entire time we were shopping. I'm pretty much used to it, and I'm going to have to live with it for the rest of my non-driving life[which is to after college according to my mom]. Thanks mom.

These are just a few shots of the Guess by Marciano boots I got today. I had to get "snow" boots, but these had traction on the bottom, so I convinced my mom to get them for me. I'm not huge on metallics, but the color is actually pretty cool. The ring is from So Good, this local jewelry store that has the craziest selection of costume jewelry. I love them for the rings. The leaf ring I wanted was gone! I was pretty disappointed, but this one is alright.

And lastly, the piano key necklace is just something I've had for a while. I don't know why but I never wear it! I'm not huge on jewelry anymore although I have a ton.

P.S. I need a better camera!

I was cleaning out one of our over-stuffed closets today and dug out some old finds. The first picture was this jacket with crazy print. I'm not sure how to even define it. But it's snazzy for sure. I'm going to wear this out soon.

I can't even explain the second one. It has multicolored polka dots on one side and stripes on the other. You can NOT find anything like this in a store my friend. The buttons=different colors. My mom was cool for sure back in the 80's. Haha. The third photo is actually what I wore today. I wanted to try something very neutral and clean. That reminds me, I need to get a pair of nude shoes pronto. I guess that adds onto my to-buy list.

I'm sorry you had to live through hearing that terrible knock-knock joke answer. But yes! I am updating for once! I wish I had more time to post up pictures and inspirations, but with the midterms near, let's just say its impossible.
I'm going to a dance on saturday, and I have not found what I'm going to wear yet.. Let's hope a late minute trip to forever21 on friday night will solve that. Or maybe I'll just fish something out of my closet that I haven't wore more than once.

I'm really craving some lace up boots. Flat. The 4-inches are nice, but I can't wait in them for long before my feet start calling for help. I'm really wanting the corsetish-bronze lace up Docs. The flats have an awesome strap. And studs. Need I say more? Do I even have to explain the converse? Sequins. I think I saw them out there a while ago, but I was not bold enough to buy them. Stupid me. MUST find those quick. In fact, Chinese New Year is soon! YES. Money for shoes.. I can already hear my mom yelling at me:

Wine Red

Yes, I know this outfit is anything but wine red.

The title has just been a catchy song I've been listening to for a bit after my friend sent it to me! It gets stuck in my head all the time! After being on a long shopping ban(okay, it was probably a week long), I went to Target to check out the GO international collection by Thakoon. The patterns were okay, but it didn't capture my attention too much. I think it was the choice of fabrics I wasn't into. I saw some promising pieces, but they were always lacking according to my picky-ness. There was this skirt but it lacked the high-waisted goodness I hoped for. I was pretty disappointed that I walked out empty handed. But on the other hand, I got a box of fruit snacks. I haven't had them in too long! Have I mentioned how addicting they are for me?

I walked over to the Old Navy next door to the Home Depot and decided to search around. I think it was the SALE imprinted on the window. And BAM! I found this white coat. I love its funnel neck, which you can't see too well in the photos. No worries, it'll debut a lot more often! I was also debating with another coat, in a deep cherry red color, like wine red! I just noticed how the title relates to the coat! It was not intentional. Anyways, I've decided for some time that red definitely was not my color, but the coat gave me a second glance! It surprisingly didn't completely wash out my face, since I'm extremely tan. It's weird how tanish I get in the summer. My mom convinced me to buy the white one instead, good choice I'm hoping! I've craving for some color!

I went out to Bertucci's with my mom as a new "experiment". We've hoping to try out restaurants we've never been to before. I'm so stuffed of penne and bread I'm about to explode. Funny moment of the day: My mom tried 10 times to use the pepper shaker until I finally told her to grind it. After I told her that, she kept shaking it. Oh, mom.

Finally the new year! Yes, I've been saying this TOO much. But hopefully I'll post more often and try to get to everyone's comments! Thanks everyone for checking out my blog!

Sorry for the terrible updating! I've been lazy sleeping most of the time and curling up on my couch with a huge blanket and a copy of New Moon. Hehe.

Can you believe this year is almost at an end? Boy does time really past by fast. This year has been a heck of a mess, but there have been lots of good times. I'm not too sure if I should make a New Year's Resolution, because I always say I will stick to them, but then..I don't. I should really try a more realistic goal, or something easier to stick to. I've had this bad habit of biting my nails since I was little and I think that was my resolution a few years back, to stop. Yeah, that didn't work. Maybe I should try to save. Yes, I guess that'll be my resolution. I know it's kinda boring, but at least it might work out! What are your resolutions?

About saving... I purchased this top a little while back and I just loved the zipper cowl neck. It's just awesome in the best way.

I hope everyone's holidays were great, and got awesome gifts. Yes it's not about the gifts, but still, who doesn't love receiving presents? These past couple days I've been returning and exchanging some things and trying to steer clear of purchasing more things this month because my dad just bought a wii! Two days ago, my friends and I were completely unleashing our inner dorks by playing intense Super Smash Bros. Yes, we're cool.

I love the details on this cardigan. I'm trying to get more military inspired garments, sort of like the gloves from the previous post. Have I mentioned I also got these boots for $16? Okay, I did buy one thing. How could you possibly resist $16 boots? Hehe. They are a bit tall for my taste though, and it makes me feel very tall. [My friends already think I'm wicked tall- I'm 5'6"] So with them, I'm reaching 6 feet. So this is how really tall people feel.

Happy Holidays everyone! I'm not spending my Christmas doing anything festive or exciting, but I hope yours will definitely be a bit more on the exciting side. Yesterday I actually headed to the mall for some last minute stuff, and the traffic actually wasn't too shabby! So just a simple outfit.
Anyways, my friend got me this pair of awesome military buttoned gloves and I love the details on them! [I actually kind of mentioned/hinted them to her..haha] I couldn't help myself. Since it's finally vacation, I'll have time to get back to your comments! Sorry for not responding lately and posting, school has been a drag. But I now I have more time, so hopefully I'll post as much as I can!

Experiment: Fringe Circle Scarf

I thought it might be fun today to try out an experiment with my circle scarf after going to the online american apparel store and seeing the different ways to wear one[whew, long sentence!]. I tied the ends of the fringe together to make a strapless dress with the fringe going down the middle. It's pretty snazzy.

I was bummed that I didn't get to wear it out. I wanted to go to Michaels today to buy some big pieces of cork for my inspiration board, which I have been dying to get to. But, my mom had to go to her dancing class, so I stayed home and ate jello and shrimp chips.

I went to the Prudential Center yesterday, and my heart was nearly broke. I went into Neiman Marcus empty pocketed. I couldn't look at the Chanel section. Anyways, I actually bought something for my Secret Santa, but I was so close into getting myself something. haha. Shopping is hard work! I saw this coat that I wanted at BCBG MaxAzria.. I need a warm and good quality colored puffy coat. Any store suggestions?

Well, back to my lazy sunday.

Note to self:I need to wear this cardigan more. It's so awesomely chunky and warm.

Dark Chocolate Truffles and Soup

Just thought you'd might enjoy a shot of MA's first snowfalls. Pretty pretty pretty. I wish it was on a school day though. Last year it started to snow during 9th period, and the school announced that everyone could go home at the start of 10th. It was absolutely insane because everyone was freaking out in happiness and the hallways were crowded. So silly.
I also took a picture with my mom, but decided not to put it up because I had a huge, cheesy smile spread across my face.
I'm also in love with the vintage brooch I found in my mom's little jewelry box. I remember seeing it a while ago, but I've never come to appreciate it until now! Does that ever happen to you? I guess my taste has changed a lot since..hm. I don't know since when, but it was a while ago I tell ya. Ah, I need more vintage brooches.

Just a couple things on my last shopping day. I'm having a load of trouble trying to find a present for my Secret Santa! Instead of looking for things my SS would like, I got a bit caught up and looked at things I liked.. whoops. BUT isn't that ring awesome?? [this is when you nod] Sadly, I have to save up for other people's Christmas presents.

And this is what I wore yesterday:
I'm not very fond of plaid, mostly because it came in red shades. I look horrible in red. But this one is a grayish blue!

Sorry for the horrible lighting. I tried changing the white balance, but nothing is as nice as the outdoor lighting. There is no way I can shoot it in in such cold weather.

Ugh, this winter weather is already getting on my nerves. It's about 16F right now[that's in the negatives for you celsius folks!] brrr. It's hard to show my outfit when I'm all bundled up in layers of cardigans and furry vests. I'm going to try to find an easier way to take good photos, not outside! [any suggestions?] Unfortunately, the lighting my house pretty much fail. Sigh, it's not even winter yet! This weather is absurd.

Btw, I finally fixed up the site! Stupid widgets. I blame them.

I got a comment from a reader asking about the shopping on Newbury Street in Boston. Let's just say there are a lot of high end shops that you might like to peer into. There are shops like Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Betsey Johnson, Valentino, MaxAzria.. But then they are the lower end but still fabulous: Second Time Around, The Closet, American Apparel, Urban Outfitters[all the way at the other end of the street!], H&M[love, but it so crowded on the weekends!], and other little boutiques you might want to check out. I've never been to The Closet before, but I'd like to take a look when I have time.. Second Time Around is nice. You can find Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, and other topnotch designers at lower prices. I recently scored a nice clutch there, so it's worth a shot to check out! What else.. there's a Starbucks pretty much every block[why can't there be a Dunkies? sigh]. Have fun in Boston :] If any of you ever visit, Newbury Street is a great street to browse and find some good food!

Here is my mini-editorial as promised! My awesome bff, Heidi, helped me out with the shoot, which I shot with both my digital[as seen] and my 35mm canon. I'm hoping that one turns out as well as this one did! I'm also pretty excited about these pictures because I didn't have to edit any of them! Oh, the beauty of black and white filters.
I have to say that I'm pretty much in love with black and white photographs. It's timeless, simple, but also brings a complexity to an image that color could never do. It's like taking all of the distracting details away and leaving it pure. [yes, I can be deep!]

Well, I'm going to go back to eating mac and cheese and Guylian chocolate[the best chocolate ever!] and working on my essay. I hope you'll enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed photographing them =]

The Butterfly Girl

I finally got to wear my nifty pants. Haha. Is it weird that I call them that? It's not their fault how amazing they are. I saw them at the store and I knew I had to buy them. They are a bit out of my comfort zone, but all the compliments I received at school made me love them even more. One guy at my school said they looked like Aladdin pants. And then he said, "I never said it was a bad thing!" Yeah, great come back. Oh well, I still love them anyways.
I'm pretty excited about my photo project, because we finally get to work with fashion photography! I'm already planning what I theme I should showcase. I definitely need more ideas. It's going to look like an editorial. It'll be epic.

I've been enjoying my Thanksgiving break way too much. All I've been doing is pretty much sleeping, shopping, and eating. I keep thinking it's Sunday today, so I'm so happy that I get an extra day to wake up after the sun rises. Yes.

My mom and i went out to the mall today to get me a Christmas present. She figured that she would just take me out today and ask what I wanted since she might not have time to take me out any other time. After giving great advice to her coat exchanging needs at macy's, we headed to F21. I picked up a nifty pair of highwaisted capri-ish pants, a military coat, and a Gucci inspired chain bracelet. I wish I had a picture of the pants to show you, but it isn't online yet. Darn it. Just trust me, they're awesome.

I was also pretty excited because my mom finally bought me a bottle of Daisy by Marc Jacobs! I just love the fresh, and soft scent of it.

Well I'm gonna go back to watching reruns on HBO of 27 dresses and Sydney White. Happy Saturday!

Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm definitely thankful for lots of things this year- my friends, my family, everything that is around me. I'm happy to have a roof over my head and for people to care about me. That's what it's all about right? Yes, I know I sound cheesy, but someone's got to say it!
In this outfit, I had to wear two pairs of tights to make it opaque. Argh.. I need sweater tights. I also love the zipper on the side of the sweater. There's only one, and not another one on the other side, so i find it pretty cool.
Well, short post for today. I should probably go downstairs and get the hot pot ready. Yes, I'm having an asian Thanksgiving. Wait, I also have a turkey. Hm, I guess half and half. Best of Both Worlds? Ahh. I hate Hannah Montana.

Argh. The rain in Massachusetts is really messing up with my outfit posts. I woke up late yesterday and only had 10 minutes to get ready, so my editorial inspiration outfit went down the drain. I was thinking of seeing how to incorporate it tomorrow, but then my friends were nag me if I didn't wear the school's colors for our rally day. Oh well, I guess I'll have to disappoint. Haha.

I really want something with sequins soon. I have this urge for something shiny, but can be demure-d with soft colors. I also need some tartan. I've got lots of holiday shopping to do. Well, for me. More posts soon i swear!

I got this nifty ring at Forever21 today. Surprisingly, it was the only thing I bought all day.

Today was uneventful; just the norm of a boring day of work at my mom's restaurant. When she finally decided to come back, I got to run over to the Atrium Mall and go to Borders. [The Second Time Around closed already at 6pm. darn it.] Is it dorky of me to love to go to the bookstore? I always obsess over the fashion section and the long row of fashion magazines. Is it so wrong to sit on a leather chair for an hour or two looking at editorials? Not in my world.

I came across the issue of Harper's Bazaar UK and I had to buy it. It was $9 but I didn't regret it at all. Is it bad that I'm starting to love British mags more than US? Anyways, I was in love with the "Rebel Chic" editorial. I'll die for the sequin bolero. What I love the most about it is the fact that it doesn't emphasize accessories, like jewelry. Less is definitely more. No?

My outfit tomorrow will showcase this look, no doubt.

Note on last picture: I wish I was a rockstar [haha, not really]

Brr. Today dropped to the 20-30Fs. Everyone asked me if I was cold in my skirt and tights, but I wasn't! The trick is to layer on tights. I'm hoping to get really thick ones for the winter so I can wear them throughout the snowy season.

So here is my lacey strapless dress I was talking about. It was a bit too dressy for school, so I wore it as a top. The quality in the photos are pretty bad and you can't see the texture as well as in daylight, so I'm hoping I can get some photos if I come home before it gets dark. The good thing is that there's heat inside.

I'm going to spend the rest of my day eating instant noodles with seafood, drinking hot cocoa[see first photo] and procrastinating? How have you guys been?
